Large Swath of Northern Fauquier added to Landmarks Register

Fauquier County
“The Virginia Department of Historic Resources moved to enshrine 23,116 acres of northern Fauquier, one of a dozen sites across the state added to the Virginia Landmarks Register. The Little River Historic District stretches from The Plains to Middleburg, straddling the Broad Run/Little Georgetown Rural Historic District and the Cromwell's Run Rural Historic District.

Warrenton resident Cheryl Hanback Shepherd spearheaded the push to enshrine the Little River district, a process that took four years of researching land that includes nearly 1,500 historic dwellings and farm buildings.”
