Strasburg to plan industrial park future

Town of Strasburg:
“Strasburg needs to plan the future of its newly acquired industrial park, seen by officials as a boon for the town. Strasburg's annexation of the North Shenandoah Industrial and Business Park from Shenandoah County took effect at the end of December. The 306 acres spans an area north of town known as the ‘Golden Triangle,’ surrounded by Interstate 81, U.S. 11 and Va. 55.

But town officials still have work to do before they can market the park to potential users and begin to reap the benefits. Economic Development and Planning Manager Kimberly Murray said Friday that she and other town officials expect to lay out the development of the park in the coming months.”

State agency backs annexation

Town of Front Royal
“A state agency paved the way Monday for Front Royal to grow by more than 600 acres and potentially add up to 800 homes. Warren County and Front Royal now must give residents another chance to speak about the proposed annexation. The town and county plan to hold public hearings on the voluntary settlement agreement that outlines the boundary adjustment and development of the property.

The Front Royal Limited Partnership filed a citizen-initiated annexation proposal with the Commission on Local Government in 2012 seeking to add 605 acres of undeveloped land it owns in Warren County to the town boundaries. More than a year later, leaders with Front Royal and Warren County crafted a voluntary settlement agreement with the developer that outlined both the incorporation of the land into the town and restrictions for future construction on the property.”

Town aims to assure the newly annexed

Town of Clarksville
“On Jan. 1, at midnight, Clarksville’s long annexation battle will finally come to an end with nearly 650 acres of land and approximately 92 people getting swept up in the town’s expanded boundaries. Hoping to quell the anxieties of Clarksville’s newest businesses and homeowners, Town Manager Jeff Jones has drawn up a plan to make the transition ‘as seamless as possible.’

A few of the benefits accruing to the new residents and businesses are trash and leaf pickup, reduced water and sewer rates, and town police protection. Foremost, Jones told members of Clarksville’s Town Council at its December meeting, is the need to communicate. To that end, he prepared letters notifying residents and businesses about the changes to come.”

State Agency Holds Hearing on Annexation

Town of Front Royal
“The public has another chance to comment on a plan to add 604 acres of Warren County to Front Royal.

The Commission on Local Government plans to hold a hearing Monday on a proposed voluntary settlement agreement between Front Royal and Warren County that calls for the town corporate limits to shift and outlines some limitations on future development.”
