Strasburg to plan industrial park future

Town of Strasburg:
“Strasburg needs to plan the future of its newly acquired industrial park, seen by officials as a boon for the town. Strasburg's annexation of the North Shenandoah Industrial and Business Park from Shenandoah County took effect at the end of December. The 306 acres spans an area north of town known as the ‘Golden Triangle,’ surrounded by Interstate 81, U.S. 11 and Va. 55.

But town officials still have work to do before they can market the park to potential users and begin to reap the benefits. Economic Development and Planning Manager Kimberly Murray said Friday that she and other town officials expect to lay out the development of the park in the coming months.”

Strasburg seeking downtown grant money

Town of Strasburg
“Strasburg can make a strong showing when it applies for the rest of a downtown revitalization grant, a state official said Thursday. A management team looking at how the town can use planning grant money from the state Department of Housing and Community Development met with an agency official Thursday. Representatives of various facets of Strasburg make up the team who heard from Doug Ellis, community development specialist for the agency. Ellis pointed out to the team of more than a dozen people that they had taken many of the steps needed to make a good application.

Much of the discussion at the meeting reiterated issues brought up at previous team sessions: how Strasburg can attract and keep businesses, use of amenities such as open space and initiatives already in place that help the town.”

Plans unveiled for streetscape enhancement project

Town of Strasburg
“Town officials, business owners and representatives from Lantz Construction Co. of Winchester met Wednesday to discuss plans for Strasburg's downtown streetscape enhancement project.

The project's first phase would replace the sidewalks, curbs and gutters along King Street from Holliday Street to Capon Street, and add brick crosswalks, trees and street lamps along the same stretch of road. Director of Public Works Mark Gundersen said construction is anticipated to start near the end of this month and finish in mid-July.

He said construction will move on a "block-by-block" basis, beginning at the intersection of King and Holliday Street until the end of February and progressing to spans of Holliday to Fort Street, Fort to Sharpe Street and Sharpe to Capon Street.”
